Just a day at the park

Scott’s intern year of residency has been long.

Yes, I’m sure the calendar would still point to its being the 365 days I expected, but I did not expect so many of those days to be days where I didn’t even catch a glimpse of my husband.

And then there were many more days where he was home, but only home enough to need to be fed (just being real here!) and have relative quiet so he could sleep.

We are now on the home stretch. Just one week left! Second year begins six ick-u (ICU) shifts from now. With it should come far less overnight call and much freer evenings and weekends.

I’m not counting chickens just yet, but I’ve been peeking at the eggs and they look mighty nice. 🙂

Last week, we took advantage of a rare Saturday evening together and made a simple trip to the park to play.

One the many things I’ve learned this year is to enjoy the simple things. I enjoyed watching Scott interact with the girls. Their mutual adoration is mesmerizing.

The other simple pleasure came when I pulled the photos off of the memory card and realized my efforts to understand and master the bells and whistles on my camera must be paying off. Either that or Heavenly Father interceded on my behalf because He knew I needed something to go right.

Ladies and gentlemen, allow me to introduce The Tongue:

Lawrence loves sticking his tongue out too. I don’t remember my other kids doing that as much. She is too cute! I’m glad you got some Daddy time. You must be pretty strong to get soo little of it. I can barely handle a whole day by myself.

Isn’t it funny how nice a free Saturday or evening is now? I used to take all that for granted. I agree…residency has taught me to enjoy the little things and time as a family. Congrats on finishing your first year!!!!

Caitlin is adorable and that last picture is awesome! Ethan had his tongue out for several months too. Babies are funny.

Whoa! She gives Gene Simmons a run for his money!

We knocked on your door when we were in Ohio. Sorry we missed you!
