I may not have the most glamorous job, but I am privy to information no one else on the planet is.
Just a sampling:
- In a bucket of all different colors, brands, and thicknesses of crayons, each with varying amounts of paper still wrapped around, I know which crayon is Mackenzie’s favorite. It’s big, nakey and blue, and she’ll proudly demonstrate how well it colors to anyone who shows interest. So far this discerning group consists of just me.
- Caitlyn’s right leg is chubbier than her left.
- Scott doesn’t care if I have scrubbed the bathrooms or dusted. If the front room is picked up, the house is deemed clean and he thanks me for it.
- When Mackenzie puts on her striped hat in the morning, she is a “bumble bee” for the remainder of the day. Never mind that the hat is pink and white striped. It is striped and bees are striped.

I have a friend who says you shouldn’t “skulk” around blogs and should always post a comment if you read a blog post. I am totally guilty of skulking around your blog. I have posted a couple of times, I hope you don’t think that is weird (sorry I actually don’t follow that many blogs and don’t know blog etiquette!). Anyway, I loved this post, someday soon our kids will be raising their own families and we will wish for these days. I actually makes me rather emotional at times, thanks for the reminder that we are “privileged” to know so many special things about our children.

Hey Miriam,
Thanks for reading and thanks for your comment. I love comments but feel free to skulk all you like. I don’t know blog etiquette either. 🙂
